Zeng Yao (1346-1408), whose name is Rizhang, was born in Wujiang, Suzhou Prefecture, Nanjing (now Wujiang County, Jiangsu Province). He was a political figure of the Ming Dynasty.

During the reign of Hongwu, he served as an official in the Imperial Academy and participated in the Yongle ceremony. When he was sent to Jiaozhi, he followed Zhang Fu to discuss Jiaozhi, because most of them praised painting. Yongle passed away in the sixth year and was sixty-three years old.
