Dai Xu, Zi Wenzi, was born in the mushroom field of Yongjia County in Song Dynasty.

In the first year of Jiading (1208), he was a Jinshi, a doctor of Taixue, a secretary, a magistrate of Hengzhou, and a counsellor of Hunan pacification department. Learning from Ye Shi, we can get the gist of his writing, and be able to abide by his master's biography. His works include five classics, debate among scholars, outline of Dongou county (also known as outline of Dongdu) and HuanChuan collection.
