Zhang Jun

Zhang gun (338 ~ 410), the word Honglong, Shanggu County JuYang county (now Huailai County, Hebei Province) people. In the early period of Northern Wei Dynasty, he was a statesman and strategist. He was the son of Zhang Zhuo, the governor of Changli.

He is intelligent and honest. From the beginning of this county, he had a lot of features, pure and honest, studious and literary talent. When Emperor Daowu Tuoba Li was the king of the Dai Dynasty, he was selected as the Zuo Changshi of the Dai state and devoted himself to assisting him. Military staff, repeatedly meritorious service, tired worship Fenwu general, Youzhou governor, canonized Linwei County marquis. In the early years of emperor Shi, he moved to the Minister of Shi Huangmen. In the second year of Tianxing (399), Zuo Shi was demoted as a minister of history, not involved in political affairs. He became an official when he was old and ill.

Yongxing three years (410 years), died at the age of 72, posthumous title Wenkang.

Zhang Jun's grandfather Zhang Yi had been the governor of Liaodong, and his father Zhang Zhuo had been the governor of Changli. Zhang gun had a high intelligence and a good character. When he was young, he was a magistrate. When the founding emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty and the leader of the Tuoba tribe of Xianbei nationality became the king of the dynasty, he attached great importance to Zhang Guan and selected him as Zuo Changshi to take part in military and political affairs. Zhang Guan is determined to assist the leader and stabilize the troubled times. He often says to people, "it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Le Yi to give advice to King Yan Zhao, and Xun you to assist emperor Wei Wu (Cao Cao) with all his heart. Now my Lord, the sky is magnificent and the sky is high. He will surely be able to integrate the Six Harmonies and unify the four seas. A man who catches up with the changing times but doesn't want to build a leap is not a hero among the people. "

Zhang Jun followed Tuoba to fight everywhere and made many military contributions. At that time, Liu Xiandi, a separatist force in the north, was broad and powerful, but he was violent and his brothers were suspicious of each other. Zhang Jun suggested to Tuoba in time: "Liu Xiancai, Kao Zhixiong, intends to annex the world, and it is difficult to coexist with us. Now they are fighting for power and profit and their power is weakened. This opportunity can be taken. They should unite with murongbao of the United Nations to attack Liu Xian. This move will surely win. " He adopted his suggestion and defeated Liu Xian, which laid the foundation for the unification of the north after the Northern Wei Dynasty.

In 395, Emperor Daowu of the Northern Wei Dynasty ascended the Kingdom, murongbao led his troops to fight for territory. Zhang Jun reminded Tuoba that after Murong Bao obtained the sliding platform (now Huaxian County in Henan Province), he concentrated his superior forces to invade it. He was too resolute to fight with him. He should wait until the time is ripe to kill him. He followed his advice and directed the army to make a roundabout attack in shenhepi (now Liangcheng, Inner Mongolia), which severely damaged the murongbao army and made it never recover.

Two years later, the power of the Northern Wei Dynasty became strong, so it marched into Zhongshan and attacked murongbao. After measuring the situation, Zhang Jun advocated using the political offensive and writing to the other party to clarify his interests. After reading the letter, murongbao retreated without fighting. After the battle, the Northern Wei Dynasty occupied Zhongshan. The imperial court praised Zhang Gong for his merits, worshipped him as general Fenwu and governor of Youzhou, and granted him Marquis Linwei.

In the first year of emperor Daowu's Tianxing reign (398), Tuoba Li ordered Zhang Guan and Cui Cheng to write a letter to the general of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Zhang and Cui were unwilling to do so, but they just called the emperor of the Eastern Jin Dynasty "the Lord". Tuoba fan suspected that they were still missing the Han Emperor. In a rage, he killed Cui Cheng and made Zhang Gong a minister. From then on, Zhang Jun was in a depressed mood. In his later years, he only advised farmers to take classes in his fiefdom and let people rest. In his spare time, he held a book and collated ancient books, and lived a life of pure heart and few desires.

In 410, the second year of Yongxing in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Zhang gun was old and seriously ill. He wrote to the emperor to express his feelings. He died the next year and died at the age of 72. The imperial court granted him the title of Taibao and posthumous title of wenkanggong.

Main achievements

Zhang Gong assisted Tuoba Wei Yunzhong in breaking Liu Xian, attacking Rouran, defeating the Yan army several times and taking charge of Zhongyuan Yunzhong, so as to pacify Jin and Henan and stabilize Hebei Province. He also advocated "separating tribes, reorganizing households and unifying the people", attracting famous people with big surnames, ruling the world with Confucian ambition, so as to gradually transform the nature of the Northern Wei regime. The Northern Wei Dynasty changed from weak to strong, and the final unification of the North depended on Zhang Guan's assistance. In the later period, Zhang gun became a victim of Tuoba to appease Xianbei people and gradually faded out of the historical stage. On his deathbed, Zhang Gong wrote: "although the minister is dark and bad, he dares to forget his former ambition. He has a soul and a spirit. He has grass and spring soil!
