Liao Yingzhong

Liao Yingzhong, named Yaozhou, was born in Shaowu (now Fujian). He is a calligrapher and collector in the Southern Song Dynasty.

Life

After entering the imperial examination, he was a guest of Jia Sidao, an official of taifucheng and Zhizhou. Jia Sidao's dictatorship is harmful to the country, and he is also reviled by the Chinese people. He was obsessed with the business of carving and collecting books. In the xianchunjian period (1265-1274), hired workers carved Chunhua Pavilion and Yitie, all of which were true to life. In addition, he and Jia Sidao selected the history of the thirteen dynasties, Huiyao, and miscellaneous theories of various scholars, for example, a hundred volumes, which was named yueshengtang suichao. The book is made of ink and mud mixed with golden musk deer. The paper is precious and the ink is bright. It is a good book. The family has "Yuesheng hall" as the collection place, and also built "Shicai hall" and "Zaiqin hall" to engrave books. Together with Zhao Qi, Han Chun, Chen Qi, Yue Ke, Liao Yingzhong, Yu Renzhong and Wang Gang, he was one of the seven famous calligraphers in Song Dynasty. The "shicaitang" was built to engrave books. Before each engraving, it is necessary to compare and check several editions, which shows its abundant collection. After Jia Sidao offended, he never wanted to leave. One day, I drank with Jia Sidao, singing sad songs. He returned home in the fifth shift and took poison to commit suicide.
