Sun Jigao

Sun Jigao (1550-1610) was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. His father, sun xuechuang, is a doctor in the Department of infantile acne and his mother, Liu. He entered the school at the age of seven and was the number one scholar in the second year of Wanli (1574) of the Ming Dynasty. He has successively served as a lecturer of Jingyan, a scholar of shaozhan, a minister of rites, and a minister of Li. In the eighth year of Wanli, he was promoted to Wei Dazhong, Gu Xiancheng, etc.

Life of the characters

In the 24th year of Wanli, the Emperor didn't send the Empress Dowager away. After Gao Shangshu's persuasion, he became an official because of disobedience. In his later years, he taught in Donglin Academy. Wanli 38 years (1610) sick death, gifts for the Ministry of rites. The burial site is located at the foot of Baijiao mountain, Dayang Township, southwest suburb of Wuxi City. There are ten volumes of collection of sun Zongbo.

Tomb site

Sun Jigao's tomb is located at the foot of bailiao mountain in Dafu Township, southwest suburb of Wuxi City (now bailiao Qianwan village, Binhu District). It was built in 1614, the 42nd year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in 1984. The original area of the cemetery is more than 9 mu, surrounded by Luocheng stone. The tomb is sealed in the middle, with a diameter of about 5 meters and a height of about 2 meters. A bluestone tombstone is erected in front of the tomb, and the inscription "Ming Sun Jigao tomb" is engraved on the front. In July 1986, it was announced by Wuxi Municipal People's government as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. In 2008, the sun clan raised money to rebuild it. Sun Jigao's former residence, called "shaozaidi", is a group of Ming Dynasty buildings at No. 52 Chongning Road, Wuxi (formerly No. 18 on xiaoheshang). It was demolished during the cultural revolution. Only the last library (namely "Laihe tower", rebuilt by his ninth grandson kuijuan during the Republic of China) and the back garden remains. In the reconstruction project of Xiaolouxiang historical and Cultural District in 2009, laihelou will be protected.
