Yao, born in 785, is a poet and native of Hezhong in Tang Dynasty. Yao is the great grandson of Yao Chong, the virtuous Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty. Yao's family in Shanjun county had become a very famous county family at that time, with high status and more fame than that of the time.

Profile

In the first year of Zhenyuan (785), Yao became a Jinshi. Yao had a deep friendship with Wei Yingwu, a poet of the same period. They have been communicating with each other all the time, and they often travel around the world together. Yao was a forthright and romantic man, especially fond of drinking and writing poems. He often gathered elegant friends to discuss literary poetry. There are only ten Yao's poems.
