He graduated from Hunan University in 1940. In 1945, he studied in Cornell University. He returned to China in 1947. He was a lecturer and associate professor of Jiaotong University. after the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as a researcher in the Military Science Research Office of the East China military region, and a professor in Harbin military engineering college, Changsha Institute of technology, and National Defense University of science and technology. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1962.
