Wenzhong is a native of Chongming (now Shanghai). Hongwu (1368-1398) promoted the Minister of rites by literature. He is well versed in various classics, especially in poetry. He repeatedly recommended Qin Yue to work in Guange (the Department of managing books, classics and compiling national history), but it was not approved by the imperial court. After eight years of teaching in Liyang, Qin resigned because of his old age and returned to Chongming, where he became a Taoist of qiaohai. After Qin's death, he enjoyed sacrificial service in Xiangxian CI. His life works include the supplement to the history of Qiao, the excerpts of filial piety, the collection of Qiao Hai and the old news of poetry.
