Wang shaozong

Wang shaozong, an official of Tang Dynasty, was born in Langya (now Linyi, Shandong Province) and moved to Jiangdu (now Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province). He is the 11th grandson of Wang Dao, Prime Minister of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Wang Quan, his great ancestor, was an official of the Liang Dynasty. He first moved from langye to Jiangdu, Yangzhou. Wang shaozong studied hard, read the classics and history, especially worked in Caoli. Poor families make a living by copying Buddhist scriptures.

Anecdotes and allusions

He stopped copying every month when he had a living expenses. Although the price was several times higher, he refused. He lived in the temple for 30 years. During the reign of emperor Ruizong of the Tang Dynasty (684), Xu Jingye set up troops in Yangzhou. He heard that Wang shaozong had a high line and sent envoys to enlist. He said that he was ill. Xu Jingye made Tang Zhiqi go to his residence to force him, but he couldn't afford it and was almost killed. After the defeat of Xu Jingye, Wu Zetian called him to Luoyang, the eastern capital of China, after being recommended by Li Xiaoyi, the general manager of Xingjun University. Lei Qian's secretary, Shaojian, still served the crown prince to study. Wang shaozong's nature is simple and elegant, and he is known as a Confucian. At that time, people in the imperial court admired him. Zhang Yi's brother has a great respect for him. Zhang Yizhi was punished for his crime, and Wang shaozong was removed from office and died in the village.
