Duan Xin, male, graduated from Shandong experimental middle school in 1998 and was recommended to the Department of biology of Tsinghua University.

In the summer of 2002, he graduated from the Department of biology of Tsinghua University with the first place in his department, and won the Jiang Nanxiang scholarship and the title of excellent graduate of Tsinghua University. He then went to Johns Hopkins University School of medicine to pursue a doctorate in neurobiology. In 2007, part of his doctoral dissertation was published in cell, the most authoritative and influential journal in the field of life science and basic medicine.
