Meipan was born in Guishan county (now Huizhou) in Song Dynasty. Yuanfeng eight years (1085) give Jinshi, award digonglang. He is versatile and erudite. In his later years, he lived in yuanmiaoguan, Fenghu. He was a native of Luofu Mountain and often lingered in Huizhou. He wrote more than a thousand poems and was known as master Mei. He is the author of the collection of poems of Luofu Mountain people.

When Tang Geng was relegated to Hui, he was friendly with Mei pan and often sang with each other.
