How to refuse a gift

Not every gift given by everyone is worth receiving. For various reasons, people will always encounter the need to refuse each other. At this time, the appropriate way to refuse a gift is very important, to achieve the purpose of not accepting a gift, and try not to make the other party feel embarrassed.

(1) Euphemism: use euphemism and polite words to indicate to the giver that it is difficult for him to accept his kindness. For example, when a man delivers a dance ticket to a woman and the woman intends to refuse, she can say, "my boyfriend has made an appointment with me to invite me to dance. I'm really sorry."

(2) Say the reason straight: it sometimes works to explain to the giver why it's difficult for you to accept the gift. For example, in official communication, you can say: "sorry, according to the regulations, this gift you sent me must be registered and turned in."

(3) Return after the event: sometimes gifts given in public are hard to refuse. Or sometimes the other party even gives you a gift while you are away. In this case, it can be received at that time without unpacking. Afterwards, return the gift to the original owner as soon as possible. Don't delay returning gifts too long, preferably within 24 hours.
