Shanghang Confucian temple, also known as Confucius Temple, is located in the east section of Jiefang Road, the axis of Shanghang County, Fujian Province. According to the records of Shanghang county annals published by Qianlong, the temple was first built in 1223, the 16th year of Jiading of Song Dynasty. Later, it was rebuilt in 1548, the 27th year of Jiajing of Ming Dynasty, because it was destroyed by water or ants. It originally covers an area of 8713 square meters. Centered on Dacheng hall, it has three doors: front, middle and back. Historical origin

Shanghang Confucian temple, also known as Confucius Temple, is located in the east section of Jiefang Road, the axis of Shanghang County, Fujian Province. The Confucian temple, with Dacheng hall as the center, is divided into three gates: the front, the middle and the back. In front of the hall, there are East and West verandas, Minghuan temple, Xiangxian temple, Jimen, panchi, Lingxing gate, Minglun hall and Chongsheng hall. On the left and right, there are Zunjing Pavilion, Jiaoyu department, Ziyang academy, Zhougong academy, the first entrance to sainthood, Sizhai and Wuci, with more than 20 magnificent gates, corridors, halls and pavilions Zhan, grand and magnificent, is the most complete and characteristic Confucian temple in our province. Main building

"Dismount stele" in front of the Confucian temple is engraved with the words "civil and military officials, military and civilian people wait to dismount here according to the emperor's order", which means "all civil and military officials, military and civilian people wait here to dismount (worship Confucius)" according to the emperor's order. In feudal society, all the officials who offered sacrifices to Confucius, regardless of their positions, came to the Confucian temple to see the monument. Layout structure

Entering the temple from the holy gate, there are panchi and Lingxing gate, forming a front yard, which marks the ritual system of the Confucian temple. The main body of Shanghang Confucian temple is Dacheng hall, which is divided into three gates: front, middle and back.

Dacheng hall cornice angle, carved dragon decorated Phoenix, Wei Shi. The two lifelike and exquisite portraits of Linqi on the ceiling are as good as ever, and the walls on both sides are engraved with patterns of flowers and birds, dragons and phoenixes, and jade rabbits.

The plaque of "eternal teacher" in Dacheng hall was erected during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The bronze statue of Confucius in the center is 2.4 meters high and weighs more than 600 Jin.

cultural meaning

On the east side of Dacheng hall, there are green bricks fired at the beginning of the construction of the Academy. On the bricks, a hundred flowers are blooming and a hundred birds are auspicious. In front of and inside the Dacheng hall, there are stone carvings of the song and Ming Dynasties, on which are engraved the hearts of scholars.
