The origin of the predecessor

Jiaying Teachers College

In the spring of 1913, Meixian women's normal school was established on the basis of two women's schools, Yide and Chongshi.

In the autumn of 1937, Meizhou Normal School of Guangdong Province was founded.

In 1949, Guangdong Meizhou normal school and Meixian women's normal school merged to form Guangdong Meizhou normal school.

In 1970, Meizhou normal school was renamed as Meixian normal school.

In 1982, Jiaying normal college was established on the basis of Meixian normal school.

 

Jiaying University

In 1924, Jiaying University was founded.

In 1927, Jiaying University was closed.

In April 1985, Jiaying University resumed.

In the autumn of 1988, Jiaying University and Jiaying Teachers College were merged, collectively referred to as Jiaying University.

 

Jiaying Institute of Education

In August 1980, Meixian teachers training college was established.

In 1983, Meixian teachers training college was renamed Meizhou education college.

In 1986, Meizhou Institute of education changed its name to Jiaying Institute of education.

Meizhou Normal School of Guangdong Province

In 1913, Meizhou Normal School of Guangdong Province was established.

 

Meizhou Health School of Guangdong Province

In March 1951, Meizhou Health School of Guangdong Province was established.

 

Merger development

In March 2000, Jiaying University and Jiaying College of education merged and upgraded to a regular undergraduate college, named Jiaying College.

In 2001, Meizhou Normal School of Guangdong Province was incorporated into Jiaying College and named Meizhou normal branch of Jiaying College.

In 2003, Meizhou Health School of Guangdong Province was incorporated into Jiaying College and named as Medical College of Jiaying College.

 

In 2004, Jiaying College became the authorized unit of bachelor's degree in Guangdong Province.

In 2006, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education.

In 2012, the school launched the "excellent talents" training plan to cultivate excellent teachers, excellent lawyers and excellent engineers.

On June 8, 2013, the Hakka Research Institute of Jiaying University was selected as the intangible cultural heritage research base of Guangdong Province, becoming one of the first 13 provincial intangible cultural heritage research bases in Guangdong Province.

 

In November 2018, Jiaying University was selected as the Construction University of "revitalization plan of universities in the East and northwest of Guangdong".
