Ouyang's former residence

Ouyang's former residence is the residence of Ouyang Ningzhi, Zeng Guofan's father-in-law, in Hengyang City. In 1838, when Zeng Guofan became an official, he got the post of head of Lianhu Academy for Ouyang Ningzhi. He found the house and moved his father-in-law's family here.

Zeng Guofan used to live in Hengyang when he trained and formed the navy of Hunan army. The former residence is a vernacular building in southern Hunan in Qing Dynasty. It is of brick and wood structure, facing east and West. It has three wide rooms, two entrances and a patio in the middle. It has a hard top, a gold wall and small green tiles. In the former residence, there are upper hall, bedroom, study, embroidery room, piano room, painting room, kitchen, storage room, etc.
