Huayudong National Forest Park

Huayudong National Forest Park is located around Nanxi Town, Hekou County. It is 85 km long from east to west and 7.2 km wide from north to south, covering an area of 1576 hectares. Ten scenic spots, including tropical rain forest, Huayudong, wangtianshu, tropical economic forest, wildlife protection and breeding center, entertainment and hunting ground, and 21 comprehensive natural and artificial scenic spots will be built. It is a comprehensive forest park integrating leisure, holiday entertainment, hunting and viewing. The forest park is located 7 km north of Hekou, 450 km away from Kunming, the provincial capital, and beside the second class highway of Kunhe river. It is a typical tropical rain forest. There are many tree species and complex flora in the territory, and there are many equal color plants preserved. The river flows into Nanxi River from the foot of the mountain. The primeval forests are distributed in two parts of the river. There is a karst cave called Huayu cave in the more spectacular forest area, which forms a spectacular waterfall and has high scientific research and tourism value.

Geographic transportation

From Hekou County, you can drive along Kunhe highway for 27 kilometers to Huayu cave, a national forest park. Huayu cave is located on the Bank of xiaonanxi River, where there are dense forests and undulating peaks. It is said that there are flower fish swimming out of the cave sometimes, so it is named "flower fish cave".

Buses to Honghe are mainly concentrated in Yunnan tourist bus station (No. 663, Guanshang Civil Aviation Road). In addition, there are buses to Kunming bus center station and Huangtupo bus station. Generally, there are large and small buses between cities and counties in Honghe Prefecture. To Hekou County, you can take the special bus to the county.

Resource status

The planned area of Hekou Huayudong Forest Park is 47145 mu, including the whole Machang tropical rain forest nature reserve. The area around the entrance of Huayudong is about 15000 mu, which is the core area of the nature reserve. The planning area of Hekou Huayudong Forest Park is close to Daweishan Nature Reserve. Many parts of the Huayudong rainforest are still in their original state. The forest is dense and tall, such as longnaoxiang, olive tree and other precious trees as high as 40 meters, which has high development value. There are dense betel nuts growing in the forest, and many primitive Guanyin lotus ferns growing near the valley at the foot of the mountain. This is an ancient rare plant specially protected by the state. Many lianas, such as zhibaoteng, xiyeteng and so on, sometimes climb the tree crown in the forest, sometimes hang in the air, and wear around, tightly winding several big trees, with changeable shapes. Orchids in the forest grow on the trunk of big trees, with delicate fragrance and elegant colors, forming a "sky garden". Pineapples and milk nuts are suspended on the trunk of trees, and old stem flowers form a unique landscape. The forest area is rich in plant populations, known as a natural botanical garden.

The whole original forest area of Huayudong has a typical tropical rain forest landscape. In the vast forest sea, there are multi-layer mixed trees of different ages, with uneven canopy, rich and colorful forest. Nanxi River as the main stream of many small streams, spring year-round continuous, sometimes clear spring murmur, sometimes winding snake, natural ecological landscape magic gorgeous.

The waterfalls in front of Huayu cave are cascading down, falling between the trees, rocks and reefs, forming a beautiful waterfall landscape of water curtain cave. There are holes in the cave. The cave landscape, water landscape, vegetation landscape and plant ecological environment of Huayu cave are of great development value.
