Yongjin pool

Yongjin pool was originally a small river connecting the West Lake and Yunsi river. During the reign of the king of Wu and Yue, Cao Gao was ordered to chisel the gate of water in Jinhua. Yang Pan's poem: "when spring is late, green peach blossoms blow down. Who can get a piece of land? It flows through 100000 families. " Through the West Lake heaven and earth, continue to walk south, came to Yongjin pool. In May 936, shuimen was renamed yongjinmen. The original gate of shuimen, called Yongjin gate, is located near the lake in the old people's Park. The 114th chapter of outlaws of the marsh, which is called "Jinmen" and "zhangshun Guishen", refers to this gate.

Development history

In addition to the legend of the White Snake, there are many folk stories belonging to the West Lake, such as the story of Taurus. It is said that in the Han Dynasty, there was a golden bull at the bottom of the West Lake. Whenever the lake dried up, golden bull emerged from the bottom of the lake and filled it with water. Let the people around have water to drink and irrigate the crops.

When local officials heard that there was a golden bull at the bottom of the lake, they wanted to seize the golden bull and present it to the emperor, so that they could win favor and be promoted to a higher rank. They ordered the people to drain the lake and catch the golden bull. When the water was dry, they saw Taurus. Officials went down to the lake to catch Taurus. Taurus was so angry that he still spat out water and drowned the local officials.

Since then, the water of the West Lake has never dried up, but Taurus no longer appears.

In October 2002, a sculpture named "Jinniu comes out of water" was placed in Yongjin pool; in 2003, the south line of West Lake was renovated, the landscape of Yongjin pool was restored, and the stone carving of "Yongjin pool" was added.
