Waitongwu Village

Waitongwu village, located in the northeast of Zhuantang street, is the main producing area of Longjing tea.

Now, there are more than 40 famous painters in the art street, and the studio of the president of China Academy of fine arts is here. The artistic atmosphere is very strong.

Waitongwu Village

Waitongwu village is located 3km northeast of Zhuantang street, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the Longwu tea base known as "Wandan tea town". It is the main producing area of Xihu Longjing tea. The whole village is surrounded by mountains in the East, Tangjiaqiao in the south, litongwu in the West and Daqing in the north.

In March 2020, waitongwu village was recognized as a good governance model village in Zhejiang Province in 2019 by Zhejiang Provincial Rural Revitalization leading group office.

Historical evolution

From 1400 to 1500 AD, the ancestor of Zongxian or Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty, the surname Qiu, moved from Ningbo to the new pavilion (now Tangjiaqiao), and later moved to the present location, where he lived. According to records, it was named "waitongwu" because of the flourishing tung trees. After the founding of new China, waitongwu village developed from mutual aid group to waitongwu agricultural cooperative; in 1956, it merged with the Qing Dynasty to form Jinxing agricultural advanced society; in 1958, it belonged to Shangsi people's commune; in 1961, it formed waitongwu production brigade of Longwu people's commune; in 1984, it changed to waitongwu village.

rural economy

The total area of the village is 130 hectares, with 1260 mu of mountain forest and 282 mu of tea land, mainly for tea planting. In the early days of liberation, the income of the whole village was at the second level in Longwu area at that time, with an annual per capita income of about 250 yuan. By 2008, there were 19 enterprises in the village, involving industrial manufacturing, art design, steel tube rental and other industries, with a total social output value of 82.8122 million yuan and a per capita income of 11611 yuan.

natural resources

Relying on the unique natural resources and rich human resources, relying on the Academy of fine arts, waitongwu village has started three art communes and five surrounding farmers' reconstructed artist studios, with a total construction area of about 6000 square meters. More than 20 artists have set up oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and other studios here. Next, the art will be settled in more farmers to guide the village. At the same time, Zhude culture will be deeply excavated. Pomegranate trees will be planted in the whole village to develop pomegranate landscape. Efforts will be made to build a comprehensive art village of "farmer pomegranate village + historical and cultural village + artistic and creative village". Its successful construction will fundamentally change the mode of economic growth, broaden the source of villagers' income, and promote people's income, so as to speed up the pace of new rural construction in Xihu District of Hangzhou city.

Honors

In November 2017, waitongwu village was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

In March 2020, waitongwu village was recognized as a good governance model village in Zhejiang Province in 2019 by Zhejiang Provincial Rural Revitalization leading group office.
