Yuantong ancient Chinese

Yuantong ancient temple is located in Jiaxing, which is known as Hecheng. Jiaxing first appeared in the spring and Autumn period, which was called "Li" in ancient times. Therefore, its seedlings are growing well, also known as Jiahe. The ancient temple was built in the early years of the Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt in the reign of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, and rebuilt in the reign of Guangxu in the reign of Tongzhi. The story of Yuantong has been discussed together since ancient times, and the grand event of Yuantong has lasted for a long time in all dynasties. So far, it has passed 700 years.

Architectural pattern

Surrounded by water on three sides, the temple is shaped like a half lying gourd. The whole temple group is arranged in a delicate and orderly way, and the temple is surrounded by jade waves, which complement each other.

The central axis of the ancient temple runs through the north and south, and it is arranged as the mountain gate, bell tower, Drum Tower, Tianwang hall, dayuantong hall and pharmacist hall. This kind of architectural pattern originated in India, but after Sui and Tang Dynasties, the layout of temples and palaces have not much difference from Chinese palaces.

Magnificent and noble roof is the biggest feature. The main hall generally adopts "Xieshan double eaves" and "weidian double eaves". Among them, "weidian top" is a four slope roof, which forms a main ridge and four inclined ridges at the intersection. The eaves and corners are upward, and the roof is slightly curved, which is beautiful and gorgeous without losing the solemn grace of Buddhism.

Yuantong ancient temple appropriately highlights the distinctive features of traditional Chinese architecture. On the East and west sides of the central axis, there are the upper hall, reception room, Jialan hall, zushi hall, Guanyin hall, 500 arhat hall, dizang hall, Fawu circulation place and other auxiliary halls. On the new basis and concept, there are also some new parts, such as the ritual room, incense hall, Guanyin bridge and so on.

Based on the hall, a bird's-eye view of the whole temple is neat and generous, with ingenuity everywhere. Even more, the great compassion tower on Guanyin bridge stands on the pool like a dragonfly skimming water.

It is said that Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty liked to tour the south of the Yangtze River for six times. Just as he wanted to return, he saw a temple in front of him, so he went into the temple to find out. In the temple, he saw a young monk chanting scriptures, so he told him the whole story. The little monk told him that it was the Christmas of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Emperor Qianlong suddenly realized that the man in white flashed by. It turned out that it was the past of Guanyin Bodhisattva. And this temple is today's Yuantong ancient temple.

Yuantong Dabei Buddhist Academy

Yuantong Dabei Buddhist Academy officially opened on September 13, 2014. Through a two-day weekly Buddhist course and a written examination at the end of the year, it aims to enhance the public's interest in learning Buddhism. It is to further advocate the Buddhist philosophy of Xinyuan monk to worship Buddha on weekends, to show his great virtue and to practice together with four people.
