Wisteria garden in Jiading

Jiading Wisteria garden is located on the riverside of Bole Road, Jiading District, in the northwest suburb of Shanghai. It is built to commemorate the 10th anniversary of friendly exchanges between Jiading District and Kawasaki Town, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations. The park was built in September 1997 and opened to the public in May 1999. The opening ceremony was held on April 22, 2000. The park covers an area of more than 10000 square meters. There are more than 100 excellent Wisteria plants in the park, with different varieties. The flowers are huge and bright, with purple, red, pink, goose yellow, white and other colors. The spikes are generally 80 to 140 cm long, and the longest is more than 150 cm

The layout of Wisteria garden not only has the characteristics of Chinese landscape garden, but also integrates some Japanese gardening style. There are water bodies, rockeries, bridges, pavilions, scaffolding, stone lanterns and other attractions in the park. In the whole Wisteria garden, the water body accounts for nearly 2000 square meters, the shelf area accounts for 1500 square meters, the lawn area accounts for 1300 square meters, and the woodland area accounts for more than 2000 square meters. The plant materials are mainly spring flowering shrubs. There are Japanese cherry blossoms (also donated by Mr. Fujimoto), Chinese magnolia, Rhododendron, red maple, Begonia and other tree species, as well as Osmanthus fragrans, Chimonanthus, ginkgo, beech and other tree species loved by the masses The whole garden looks natural, lively and colorful. With the joint efforts of China and Japan, in late April of every year, the garden is full of purple flowers and attractive fragrance.

The park covers an area of more than 10000 square meters. There are more than 93 excellent Wisteria plants in the park, with different varieties. The flowers are huge and colorful, including purple, red, pink, white and blue. The spikes are usually 60 to 90 cm long, and the longest can be more than 150 cm.

Jianyuan

More than 90 Wisteria varieties in the garden are provided free of charge by Mr. Fujimoto Daosheng, Nagasaki Machi, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Every year, Mr. Fujimoto will come to Jiading to teach you the cultivation and pruning techniques of Wisteria.

The wisteria trellis in the park was donated by the president of Japan's Teyong liyuzhi company, Mr. Teyong shener, from Hoki CHO (donated 2 million yen in 1997).

On May 18, 2017, in order to prune Wisteria more professionally, the wisteria pruning team of Jiading Wisteria garden was officially established. Mr. Fujimoto came from Japan to teach five pruners.
