Opera Hall

The Opera Hall of Wuxi Grand Theatre has a lift Orchestra and a professional ballet stage which can accommodate 120 Orchestra members. The stage opening is 20 meters wide and 35 meters deep. It is cut by computer numerical control and combined with the external image of dragonflies to reflect the ecological characteristics and regional characteristics.

Almost all aspects of the design of Wuxi Grand Theatre, a cultural building, are fully involved by Finland and China, which not only embodies the typical Finnish architectural characteristics, but also fits in with the special regional cultural factors of China.

Design concept

The main design concept of Wuxi Grand Theater is based on its regional location. Wuxi Grand Theater is located on the artificial peninsula on the South Bank of Taihu Lake. There is a highway bridge nearby, which makes the location of the base comparable to that of Sydney Grand Theater. This location determines that Wuxi Grand Theater has become an important landmark building. The building rises from the base height to 50 meters like a huge statue, and the eight huge roofs of the building stretch out of the wall like wings To make the theater look like a butterfly, the big roof also helps to block the heat of the sun. The architectural design concept is unique: there are thousands of LED lights in the steel wings. The color of the wings can be changed according to the characteristics of the performance. The perforated aluminum plate on the bottom of the wings enables this concept to be realized.

Another special feature of the design concept of Wuxi Grand Theater is the "forest" formed by 50 9-meter-high pillars of light. The pillars of light start from the square of the main entrance, support the roof of the central hall, and extend to the lake through the entrance along the lake. A characteristic with strong Chinese characteristics runs through the whole building: a large number of bamboo materials are used, which are both traditional Chinese materials and modern materials . Recently, some new methods of making and using bamboo make it possible for the auditorium of the main theater to be wrapped with 15000 solid bamboo blocks of different shapes according to the sound needs and architectural image. Wuxi Grand Theater also uses a material with Finnish characteristics, that is, nearly 20000 specially designed glass blocks on the arc wall along the lake side of the auditorium Brick. Finland's nature, lakes and ice are the inspiration of architectural design.
