Sinian Art Museum

The first renovation project completed in China by architect Tadao Ando has been open to the public since February. The museum is a private museum located in the Financial District of Lujiazui on the Bank of Huangpu River in Shanghai. Neat lines, scattered light and shadow, lead gray stairs or everywhere

It's engraved with the mark "made by Antang". The jewelry box is Ando's design inspiration. At night, with the help of light, the building looks a little magical from the outside.

Sinian Art Museum

After years of preparation, the Sinian art museum was officially opened on August 11, 2003. Located in the Sinian 21st century building, 156 Jiankang Road, Taipei, the museum has the functions of collection, exhibition, research and education.

Collection content

Collection of ancient Chinese jade, Buddhist relics, ceramics, bronzes, stone portraits and other art works of thousands of pieces, and related research references and rubbings, unearthed photos and other materials. All kinds of exquisite products are displayed in different areas according to their materials or themes. The development of ancient utensils is arranged according to the times, focusing on relevant themes and categories, highlighting special themes and usages, and comparing different styles of the times.

Core tenet

It has a complete set of ideas about the research methods and purposes of ancient artifacts. It holds that ancient artifacts are not only art treasures for appreciation, but also historical materials through proper analysis and interpretation. However, in the process of a piece of utensil from raw materials to forming and spreading after forming, it contains many factors, such as the change of time and space, artificial construction and design, which can not be included by simple style identification. In order to fully identify each piece of ancient utensils, restore their production process, and restore their time and space, we choose to study the four elements of utensils forming - material, work, shape, and pattern. Starting from individual phenomena, it gradually expands to a wide range of aspects. Through layers of reduction, it accumulates available historical materials and gradually restores the ancient history. This is the "paleontology" advocated by the Sinian Art Museum.
