Construction history

On March 15, 1989, the construction of Nanjing Radio and television tower in Jiangsu Province broke the ground. After 7 months of foundation construction, 20 months of tower body construction and 21 months of tower and antenna mast construction.

In October 1993, the trial launch of FM radio and TV was completed. It took 14 months for equipment installation and tower decoration.

On the new year's day of 1995, the Nanjing Radio and television tower in Jiangsu Province was opened for five years. There are two high-speed elevators in the tower to carry tourists between the tower and its base at the speed of 6 meters per second. There are tourist attractions for sightseeing, catering, entertainment, etc.

The design of the TV Tower project is undertaken by the Design Institute of the Ministry of radio, film and television. The key problems of interior decoration, scheme demonstration of connecting the tower body, internal force calculation and experimental research, as well as the influence of construction joints, and the design calculation of the 5-meter spiral staircase (no column in the middle) with five turns are completed by Southeast University. The main construction of the project is undertaken by Sichuan Construction Engineering Corporation.
