Construction process

On January 18, 2003, Nanjing Art Museum opened.

In December 2017, the new Nanjing Art Museum started construction.

On April 1, 2019, the foundation pit earthwork excavation of the new museum of art was completed.

On September 1, 2019, the basement structure will be completed.

In November 2019, the steel truss will be assembled.

On December 22, 2019, the steel truss will be lifted as a whole.

On December 24, 2019, the steel truss will be lifted in place and will be closed.

Architectural design

The design of the new museum of Nanjing Art Museum is based on "landscape Jinling, freehand Jiangbei" as the main creative axis, and the overall shape is irregular. The base is composed of "three centers" and auxiliary business houses, on which the art museum is suspended to introduce natural landscape and urban landscape. It not only uses landscape to create scenery, but also has clear sight. The base design is a combination of water and green, with ups and downs, which has the charm of traditional gardens piling mountains and stones; the outline of the art museum presents a combination of hardness and softness through the abstract shape and geometric deformation, just like the clouds between the mountains and rivers. The ultimate goal of the project is "a group of three-dimensional gardens with the spirit of the times in Nanjing, a cultural place to show the vitality of Jiangbei new district, and a public living room that can provide all-weather services".

Construction difficulties

The superstructure of the new Nanjing Art Museum project is almost supported by four giant columns (four core tubes). The core tube structure is steel plate shear wall + concrete structure, with two floors underground and five floors above the ground. The height of each floor ranges from 6 meters to 6.6 meters, and the area of each floor is about 200 square meters, including elevator shaft / stairs / ventilation shaft / cable shaft, etc The wall on one side of the two core tubes inclines 81 degrees, and the steel structure is first, then the outer frame is erected, the steel bar is bound, the formwork is erected, and the concrete is poured, so the construction is very difficult.

The thickness of steel plate concrete shear wall is 700mm, and a hidden beam at the top of each layer is densely arranged, so ordinary concrete can not be poured. After communicating with the Design Institute, the project department adjusted the coarse aggregate size and concrete mix proportion of concrete, only five or six pouring methods were used, and the core tube formwork was reinforced with many measures, and special construction methods were used to ensure the normal construction of steel plate shear wall concrete.
