On December 13, 1937, the Japanese army invaded China and captured Nanjing. In the following six weeks, the Japanese army massacred Nanjing citizens and Chinese soldiers. More than 300000 people died. There are 17 places of death and mass burial for the victims, including jiangdongmen, xiswazi village of Zhongshan Mausoleum, yijiangmen, Qingliangshan, coal port, Beijige, Zhongshan wharf, Hanzhongmen, caoxiexia, shangxinhe, Wutaishan, Nanjing University, Yanziji, etc.
