Located in Siyang County, Jiangsu Province, China's "hometown of Poplar", China poplar museum was officially opened to the public on June 2, 2007. It is the only poplar culture exhibition hall in China. The venue covers an area of 9960 square meters, including a construction area of 1443 square meters. On the first floor of the museum, there are two large bronze reliefs, namely "ancient country of Surabaya" and "hometown of Yiyang", which show the general picture of ancient and modern Yiyang. On the second floor, there are seven halls, including image exhibition hall, international exhibition hall, craft collection hall, culture and art hall, historical data hall, cultivation and utilization hall and multimedia hall. They comprehensively use modern means such as sound, photo electricity, pictures and images, and use illusory landscape and timing automatic rotating sculpture display platform to show visitors the unique charm of poplar culture, poplar related products and cultural artworks, which is of great significance It has great ornamental, leisure and academic research value. In front of the exhibition hall, there is a group sculpture of granite figures. The figures on it are Liang Changwu (middle), former Vice Minister of the Ministry of forestry of the people's Republic of China who introduced Southern poplar from abroad, Wang Mingxiu (left), father of Chinese black poplar, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering and professor of Nanjing Forestry University, and Wang Changquan (right), an outstanding forestry scientist in our county, who have made outstanding contributions to the development of China's poplar industry Contribution. Located in the south of the exhibition hall, the four Populus Tianyi trees were planted in 1976. They are known as the king of Chinese Populus Yiyang and the "living fossil" of Chinese poplar. The highest one is 46 meters high, 1.16 meters diameter at breast height and 16.8 cubic meters volume.

The museum is close to Siyang County, 60km away from Suqian City, with a total area of 0.9547 hectares. The project has a circular frame with two floors, 7.56m in height, a construction area of 1443 square meters, and a soilless carpet lawn. The "yiyangwang" direct lightning protection project, sculpture production, Doushi Road, marble square, and an ancient well, with a total area of 9650 square meters. The scenic spot has invested 5 million yuan.

The museum has a circular exhibition hall with a building area of 908 square meters, which is mainly used to display poplar culture and poplar related products; the road in the museum is 1986 square meters, which is paved with colored granite, colored brick and other materials; the green space is 5866 square meters, which is planted with all kinds of new varieties of poplar, ginkgo, red maple, etc. In addition, a granite group sculpture is built in the museum. The figures are representatives of leaders, experts and grassroots scientific and technological personnel who have made outstanding contributions to the development of China's poplar industry to commemorate their outstanding contributions.

The scenic spot is mainly divided into three viewing areas: the king of Yiyang viewing area: through viewing the four largest Yiyang kings in China, we can experience the strong local culture of Yiyang town. Yiyang products viewing area: appreciate the various uses of Yiyang products and feel the role of Yiyang in China's ecological environment construction and social and economic construction. Yiyang group array viewing area: through watching Yiyang planting, people can stay in Yiyang forest, breathe natural fresh air, and feel like returning to nature.

Reasons for construction

Siyang County is the first place to introduce and plant Italian poplar in China, with a poplar forest coverage rate of 42%, ranking the first in plain areas of China, and has been awarded the only "hometown of Chinese Italian Poplar" by China forestry society. Over the past 30 years, Siyang County has not only led the country in poplar introduction and promotion, large-scale afforestation, and intensive management, but also formed an industrial chain of wood processing and export trade integration, with 720 production and processing enterprises and more than 10 well-known brands using poplar as raw materials. Its annual output value is more than 2 billion yuan, and its products are exported to more than 30 countries and regions such as the United States and Japan, earning 50 million yuan of foreign exchange annually Dollars. The added value of poplar wood processing accounts for more than 50% of the industrial added value of the county, and has become the pillar industry of the county. With the continuous growth of Yiyang industry, Siyang Yiyang is famous and has won many awards from the State Science and Technology Commission, the State Agricultural Commission, the State Forestry Ministry and the people's Government of Jiangsu Province.

The museum is planned and designed by Shanghai Tongji University, covering an area of 8760 square meters. It began to be built in August 2006 with a total investment of nearly 5 million yuan. The exhibition hall mainly displays the materials and objects of poplar introduction and breeding, poplar culture materials, poplar cultivation achievements and poplar products. There are four varieties of Italian poplar planted in January 1976. Among them, the largest one is 45 meters in height, 106 cm in diameter at breast height and 16.3 cubic meters in volume per tree. It is worthy of the name of "king of Chinese Italian Poplar" by experts.
