The architectural style fully absorbs the elements of the Han culture. It imitates the Han style high platform, big roof, marble exterior wall, and the facade is inlaid with reliefs from the Han stone pattern, which is solemn and simple. The museum was completed and opened in October 2010, covering an area of 50 mu and a construction area of 10000 square meters.

As of July 2019, more than 700 cultural relics have been displayed in Suzhou Museum, which integrates exhibition, collection, display, research and dissemination. The museum is divided into three floors: the first floor is the warehouse, office area, temporary exhibition hall and folk art museum. Among them, the folk art museum includes five parts: local opera, Yongqiao circus, folk crafts, calligraphy and painting, and Lingbi stone. 2、 The third floor is the exhibition hall of Suzhou's history and culture, including seven parts: the thoroughfare of Jiuzhou, the source of human culture, the heroic style of Qin and Han Dynasties, the throat of bianshui, the charm of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the modern situation and the outstanding people.

Suzhou Museum is one of the top ten landmarks in Anhui Province during the 11th Five Year Plan period, the fourth patriotism education base in Anhui Province, and a national AAAA tourist attraction.

Development and evolution

In 2008, the construction of Suzhou Museum was completed.

On December 31, 2010, Suzhou Museum was open to the public for free.

Design concept

Suzhou Museum is designed by five top design institutes in China: China Architectural Design and Research Institute, Zhejiang University Design and Research Institute, Shanghai University Design and Research Institute, Xiamen University Design and Research Institute and Guangzhou Tanghua design and Research Institute respectively. Determined by the Municipal Planning Committee, Suzhou Museum is mainly designed by Zhejiang University and draws on the symbols of five top design institutes, namely It not only contains the cultural idea of Han Dynasty in Ancient Suzhou, but also embodies the modern consciousness.

 

Collection

As of July 2019, more than 700 cultural relics have been displayed in Suzhou Museum, which integrates exhibition, collection, display, research and dissemination.

In the exhibition hall of "tracing the source of human culture", there are representative pottery, jade and bronze wares from the Neolithic period to the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period; in the exhibition hall of "Qin and Han Xiongfeng", there are mainly precious cultural relics such as pottery, jade and bronze wares from the two Han Dynasties, as well as the art of Han Dynasty paintings and stone statues; in the exhibition hall of "bianshui throat", there are two archaeological excavations of the Grand Canal in Suzhou The exhibition hall of "the charm of Ming and Qing Dynasties" mainly focuses on porcelain, which displays representative porcelain, jade, bronze statues and other cultural relics, as well as a typical Qing Dynasty architectural community -- the miniature model of Lin Tanhua mansion; the exhibition hall of "outstanding people" focuses on historical celebrities' allusions as far as min Ziqian and as close as Pearl Buck and Liu Kaiqu; folk art "Art Museum" mainly displays Suzhou folk art and intangible cultural heritage; "Xiao Longshi Art Museum" displays 31 paintings and calligraphy works of Xiao Longshi in different periods.

 

Major cultural relics

Cultural Activity

On November 5, 2015, Anhui Museum and Suzhou Museum jointly held "Yinyun Changhong - art master Huang Binhong painting and calligraphy exhibition".

 

In March 2018, Suzhou Museum arranged the cultural relics in the exhibition hall of Ming and Qing Dynasties.

 

On May 17, 2019, all Party members of the administrative and educational branches of Suzhou radio and Television University visited the "Suzhou Museum" to carry out party day activities.

 

Honors

In November 2011, Suzhou Museum was listed as one of the top ten landmark buildings in Anhui Province.

 

In September 2018, Suzhou Museum was selected into the third batch of national second-class museums.

 

In July 2018, Suzhou Museum entered the list of the fifth patriotic education demonstration bases to be recommended in Anhui Province.

 

In June 2019, Suzhou Museum successfully obtained the trademark registration certificate of "Suzhou Museum" issued by the State Intellectual Property Office.

 

Organization setup

Suzhou Museum is a public institution at the deputy department level. It has four departments and one room, including office, exhibition department, propaganda and education department, storage department and security department, with 36 employees.
