Development history

Changdao was a place of Laiyi in ancient times. In Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Huangxian county. In the third year of Tang Dynasty (707 AD), it was under the jurisdiction of Penglai county.

In 1929, Changshan Island administrative region was set up, which is subordinate to Shandong provincial government.

In August 1945, Changshan Island special zone was established, which is under the exclusive jurisdiction of Beihai.

After the liberation of Long Island in August 1949, Changshan Island special zone was still established.

In May 1956, Changdao County was subordinate to Laiyang District, and then to Yantai district.

Main attractions

Jiuzhang cliff

Jiuzhang cliff is located in the northwest corner of beichangshan Island, 11 kilometers away from Changdao County. The cliff stretches for more than 400 meters, and is especially famous for its rare rock combination and precipitous precipice. Jiuzhang cliff main attractions are: cliff yansuo (Jiuzhang cliff), 69.7 meters high, is a hundreds of meters long giant cliff. The jiudieshi pagoda is made up of nine layers of quartzite with obvious joints, forming a pair of "mother child cliff" with Jiuzhang cliff. Baxian stone cave is two large sea erosion caves with a depth of more than 30 meters and a width of 5 meters. The top of the cave is similar to the arch. There is a small hole adjacent to the big hole, more than 1 meter wide and more than 20 meters deep. There are stone tables, stone beds and two skylights in the hole. Dragon tongue, threshold reef, flagpole reef, spider reef and monkey reef naturally form a good fishing ground.

Mazu Cultural Park

Miao Island Xianying palace is located in the northeast of Miao Island, 2.5 nautical miles away from Changdao County, covering an area of 90 mu. Built in 1122 ad, it is the earliest and most famous Mazu temple in northern China. Fishermen in Changdao have been honoring it as "goddess of the sea" temple for generations. The reason why Mazu temple was built on Miao island is that the shape of Miao island is like a Phoenix, and the shape of Shaobing island in the north of Mazu temple is like the sun. The two islands are opposite each other, and the shape is like "Danfeng Chaoyang". It is a treasure land of Shangshang geomantic omen.
