Introduction to scenic spots

On March 18, 1926, more than 5000 people from all walks of life in Beijing, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and Li Dazhao and others, gathered in front of Tiananmen Square to protest against the Japanese imperialist banditry against China's sovereignty. After the meeting, they went to Duan Qirui to hold a "petition" against the government. When Duan Qirui was abroad for a while, the students held a "sharpened stick" and robbed the guards' guns and beat the guards, so they clashed with the guards. The Beiyang guards opened fire without warning, killing 47 people and injuring more than 150.

Liu Hezhen and Yang Dequn, students of National Beijing Women's Normal University, died in the tragedy.

In order to commemorate the martyrs and carry forward the tradition of patriotism, the Beijing Municipal People's government has listed Duan qiruizhi's government, that is, the place where the March 18th massacre occurred, as a key cultural relic protection unit in Beijing, and Dongcheng District has listed it as a youth patriotism education base.
