Tongqingli

Tongqingli is a civil residential complex with Chinese and Western styles, which was built in 1913. It is located in the east of the north end of ancient culture street in Nankai District. It is a key protected historic building. Now as part of the ancient culture street, it is used for tourism and commerce.

brief introduction

Tongqingli, located in the north section of ancient culture street, is the largest group of Chinese and Western courtyard buildings in Tianjin, which still retains the old style. Founded in 1913, it was originally a bank opened by Bian family of Hebei grain store in Tianjin. Later, it was changed into residential housing. At the entrance of the alley, a pair of "Butterfly" shaped hollowed out wood carvings are inlaid on the top of the entrance. The "Butterfly" has the meaning of "blessing" flying, auspicious. In addition, the design and pattern carving is transparent, which means smooth. Together is "Tongda auspicious", take its first and last two words. Hence the name "tongqingli".

As of 2014, clay figurine Zhang Art Museum, Haiya tea house and other cultural and leisure venues are located in them.

history

Tongqingli was built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. It was originally a bungalow. Later, after Zheng Yuanli bought the land, he demolished the original bungalow and built tongqingli. Tongqingli used to be used as a bank, and later became a residential house. Before the renovation, there were 72 residents. In 2003, Tianjin Haihe comprehensive development and the transformation of ancient culture street were found by Tianjin Real Estate Corporation. In 2004, according to the principle of "restoring function and repairing the old as before", it retained and restored its architectural characteristics.

Architectural features

With a construction area of 2600 square meters, tongqingli is a Chinese style Lane composed of ten independent courtyards. Each building here has a crossing at the entrance of the lane, and the upper end of the building is inlaid with butterfly shaped hollow wood carvings, which means "Tongda auspicious". There are two two two-story brick and wood structure green brick buildings in each courtyard. The roof is sloping, and the first and second floors of the building are equipped with open veranda. The building combines the lane layout of Chinese traditional architectural elements with the single building structure of Western architecture, and is a large residential house with eclecticism architectural style.

In 2003, during the comprehensive development of Tianjin Haihe River and the reconstruction of ancient culture street, Tianjin Real Estate Corporation added six relief sculptures on the local walls of tongqingli building complex, which are respectively "yellow gate" relief and "Luhe Duyun map relief" at the east entrance, and "civilized wedding relief", "Tianjin weiqiaohua photo relief" and "walking on stilts" at the west entrance "Relief" and "Dragon Boat relief".
