Geology and geomorphology

Huaguo Mountain is located on the Subei Jiaonan Anticline of Dabie Sujiao fold belt of Qinling fold system, which is one of the most incised faults in China. The metamorphic rocks in Huaguoshan area are mainly shallow grained rocks, belonging to meso Neoproterozoic (1.1-800 million years ago), with many basic dikes, which are named "Yuntai group". Huaguoshan sea erosion cave is a natural classroom and experimental site for studying global sea level change. This kind of geological relic is rarely seen along the Pacific Rim. The Huaguoshan metamorphic rocks were subjected to temperature of about 300 ℃ and high pressure metamorphism of 7000-9000 bar during the orogeny. Since about 200 million years ago, the thickened crust has undergone isostasy, and the mountain roots of the orogenic belt have broken off into the mantle. Due to the rapid exhumation of the orogenic belt, the rocks of Huaguo Mountain have been uplifted from the deep part of the crust about 20 kilometers deep to the surface. After nearly 100 million years, they have been uplifted about 20 kilometers vertically and close to the surface. The Huaguoshan mountain has shifted about 300 km to the northeast. Since the late Cretaceous to Neogene, the Huaguoshan mountain has risen slowly and accepted denudation, with the denudation range of about 3-5 km. The present Huaguoshan landform was formed in the geological formation of nearly 500000 years.
