From 1938 to 1940, the church was built by the American Lutheran Church at the former site of the German club. It was designed by the Russian architect ulyson. It has a fair faced red brick exterior wall, with a building area of 1482 square meters. The interior can accommodate more than 300 people to worship. It has a square bell tower, which can be reached along the 60 steps inside. The architectural style is Romanesque, thick and majestic. The clock tower is 24 meters high, making it the scene of many roads nearby.

In 1958, the churches of the Chinese mainland were merged and church services were combined. The 50 churches in the urban area of Qingdao were merged into 7 gathering points (two yuan 1, the original St Paul church, the original Baptist Church, 31 Jining road 31, the original self support association, 35 of the city road 35, the original Lutheran Church of Lu Detang 42, the original Sifang God Church of 15 15 Jiahe Road, the four original middle road, the original Cangyi Lutheran Church and the Longshan Road 4. The local church in Qingdao continued to gather until it was closed when the Cultural Revolution broke out in 1966. In the 1990s, the hall resumed its gathering.

In December 1999, Guanxiang No.2 Christian Church was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Qingdao.
