Maxim Pavilion

There is a "maxim Pavilion" in Zhongshan Park in Beijing. The maxim Pavilion, also known as medicine Pavilion and medicine stone pavilion, is a Western-style circular eight column Pavilion. Built in 1915, the eight stone pillars of the pavilion are engraved with the proverbs of our ancestors, which is called the proverb Pavilion.

Because these maxims have the meaning of curing diseases and saving people, they are also called medicine pavilion or medicine stone pavilion. The pavilion was initially built about 40 meters inside the South Gate (at the fountain of the South Gate). Due to the construction of "defending peace square", it was moved to the center of beitanmenwai road in 1918, near the Tongzi river.

Originally, there were aphorisms of ancient sages on the eight pillars, such as "the words of Mencius, the words of Confucius" and so on. Unfortunately, some time after the founding of the people's Republic of China, these sentences were worn out. The motto on the original eight stone pillars is as follows:

1. Zhu Zi's words said: to fulfill oneself is loyalty, to push oneself is forgiveness

2. Mencius said: the foundation of the country lies in the home, and the foundation of the home lies in the body

3. Zisi said: review the old and learn the new, be honest and respect the propriety

4. Yang Ming said: knowledge is the beginning of action, and action is the completion of knowledge

5. The words of Danshu say: respect is better than indolence, and indolence is better than respect

6. Wu Mu said: civil servants do not love money, and military officers do not hesitate to die

7. Cheng Zi's words said: the Lord of one is respect, and the unfit is one

8. Confucius said: since ancient times, there has been death, people do not stand without faith

Korean politics

Built in 1929, Maxim pavilion was designed and built by Han lelan, one of the early leaders of the Northeast party, an outstanding Korean political activist and people's artist. At that time, his public identity was a member of the engineering section of the capital of Heilongjiang Province and Shangbu Municipal Bureau, and a supervisor of Longsha park. He gave full play to his artistic expertise, carefully designed and built the European style pavilion. After the completion of the European Pavilion, it attracted many visitors, especially some literati and scholars. They often gathered in the pavilion to recite poems and write Fu. Sometimes, some proverbs about the world were hung on the pillars of the pavilion, which played a warning role for visitors. People called the pavilion "proverb Pavilion". Because the front face is inlaid with a round dial, the public is commonly known as "Bell Pavilion".

In the late 1980s, due to disrepair, the pavilion was demolished. At the beginning of 2004, the municipal government accepted the proposal of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference and decided to rebuild the pavilion, which was funded and completed in August 2004 by the Municipal Bureau of construction, Huahong construction company and Hualian development company.
