Xiangjie temple in Beijing is located in the northwest of Longwang hall in pingpo mountain, the west mountain of Beijing. It is the largest temple in eight places. Because of the gentle mountains, it is also called pingpo temple.
The temple was founded in the first year of Qianyuan (758) of the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the first year of Hongxi (1425) of the Ming Dynasty. In 1678, it was rebuilt again and renamed "Shenggan Temple". In 1748, it was renamed "Xiangjie Temple", which means "Xianglin fajie".
