Geda building

The main building is commonly known as "gedulou" and "Huayun Museum". It was originally a "edible Museum", but now it does not operate catering. More than 3000 cultural relics of more than 100 kinds are displayed here, which are of great value. The cultural relics in the museum include the most typical bronzes, porcelain, wood carvings, stone carvings in various historical periods from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, as well as Han white jade from the Northern Qi Dynasty, the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Song Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty.

Geda building

Built in 1937, Geda building was designed by Italian architect Benetti. This building was originally built by British Xiannong company and then sold.

The building is located at the intersection of the two streets and Machang road in the south. With a construction area of 6449.42 square meters, it is a four story brick and wood structure western style building, with a strong Italian style row style lane house.

Geda brick in Geda building was originally the product of a kiln in xiqinglongtan, Tianjin, in the early 20th century. The kiln mainly produces clay brick and big tube tile, of which clay brick includes green brick and red brick, and Datong tile has bottom tile and cover tile. At that time, when the kiln fired bricks, it didn't grasp the fire properly, so it went too far, which made the fire side of the fired bricks melt and deform, forming a lump of waste bricks, which was difficult to sell. At that time, Paul Bonatti, who cared about the work of the Engineering Department of the Ministry of industry and designed the Huili Stadium (today's Marco Polo Club), found that this kind of brick had been burned for a long time and was harder than fire-resistant steel bricks, so he bought all these bricks at a very low price, designed them himself, and built this "pimple building". He deliberately built those bumps on the wall, and regularly highlighted those extremely ugly bumps. After the building was completed, the bumps became famous far and wide. As a result, they were sold at a high price and made a lot of money.

The original property rights are Tong Guangzong, Yang Weichen, Shen Youren and Enguang hospital. The building is located at the intersection of the two streets and Machang road in the south. "Pimple" describes the rough texture appearance of fired brick. Now house 285 is the place where famous Peking opera performing artist Ma Lianliang lives in Tianjin.

At the end of the last century, the north corner was decorated as a hotel. The owner of the hotel, Zhang Lianzhi, piled up the antiques inside and outside again. There were more pimples on his face. Inside, people were eating among the antiques. The selling point was the "edible Museum". Now the Hotel is closed and has become a cultural relic market.
