From October 23 to 25, 1948, under the heavy bombardment of enemy aircraft and artillery, the Northeast Field Army's "black mountain troops" fought for three days and nights to repel the New 1st army, the new 6th army and the 71st army under the command of Liao Yaoxiang, and the third brigade of the whole 27th division, which made it impossible for the enemy to advance in an inch This ensured that our brothers' forces would rush to the designated places, attack the enemy from all sides, divide and encircle the enemy, and completely annihilate them. The Department has been named "Black Mountain army" by the military and political chief of the Northeast Field Army.

Jinzhou was the key to the Liaoshen campaign, and the blocking battle of Heishan successfully intercepted Liao Yaoxiang corps, which played a decisive role in the final victory of the Liaoshen campaign. At the same time, the encirclement and annihilation war of western Liaoning also started in Heishan, which laid the foundation for the future Huaihai and Pingjin campaigns.

In December 2016, it was selected into the list of national red tourist attractions.

Located 4.5km southeast of Heishan County, southwest of "101" highland, 420 meters away from "101" memorial tower, Heishan Resistance War Memorial Hall covers an area of 9154 square meters. The building area of the hall is 2279 square meters, the main body is 11 meters high, 82.8m long and 21.6m wide. It is a two-story steel dome structure building. The exhibition hall on the first floor covers an area of 1400 square meters, and the office area and functional area on the second floor covers an area of 879 square meters With a total investment of more than 10 million yuan, the project was completed on October 25, 2008, the 60th anniversary of the victory of the blocking war in Heishan.

Heishan Resistance War Memorial Hall is an open Memorial Hall integrating collection, protection, display and Research on the history of Heishan Resistance War. With the theme of multimedia digital halfview painting, it comprehensively, truly, accurately and systematically reproduces the great feat of earth shaking and weeping ghosts in that year's Resistance War through a large number of photos, pictures, cultural relics, historical materials and landscape restoration.
