Tiereke town

Tiereke town is located in the northwest of Baicheng County, Xinjiang, with a straight-line distance of 35 km. It is located in tiereke gully in the middle section of kapulang river. To the east of qiogetale (there are County sheep farm pastoral area and Bulong Township pastoral area), to the west of mijike Township pasture (there are mijike Township pastoral area and Bulong Township pastoral area), to the south of Baicheng Town, mijike Township and Daqiao Township, and to the north of Tianshan Mountain. It is more than 20 kilometers from east to west, north to south, with a total area of 129.01 square kilometers. The town has two villager committees, three factories (Baicheng chemical fertilizer plant, Baicheng thermal power plant and Baicheng cement plant) and one mine (Baicheng tiereke coal mine) directly under Aksu District. The total population is 1702 (2017). The town government is stationed at the east end of tiereke bridge.

Historical evolution

Tiereke town is named for its location in tiereke valley. Tiereke, in Uyghur, means poplar. Because there were many poplars growing in the valley in the past, it was named. Today, there are many factories, machines and cars. With the continuous expansion of the construction scale and the rapid increase of population, a new market town has been formed. To meet the needs of the new situation, tiereke town was officially established on November 15, 1984 with the approval of the people's Government of Baicheng county and the people's Government of the autonomous region.

Tiereke town is a complex area, and its shape is very irregular due to the limitation of the valley and the adjacent pastoral areas. Most of the places are distributed in tiereke Valley, the upper reaches of tailechuke River and the two sides of kapslang river. It has an altitude of 1600-2000 meters and a mountainous climate in front of the Tianshan Mountains. It is cool in summer and warm and windless in winter. The minimum temperature is - 32 ℃ and the maximum temperature is 34.5 ℃. It begins to snow and freeze in the middle of October every year. It melts and thaws in early April of the next year. The annual snowfall is 8.3 cm and the maximum precipitation is 35.4 cm.

The area has many hills, rivers and ditches, abundant water resources, abundant herbage and rich mineral resources. There is often snow on the nearby mountains, a small amount of spruce on the shady slope of the back of the mountain, and wild animals such as yellow goat, wild goat, marmot and pheasant. The mined minerals include coal, iron, clay, fluorite, limestone, shale and so on, mainly coal.

Economics

The agricultural production scale of the town is relatively small, and it is mainly produced by industrial and mining enterprises, including tiereke coal mine, Baicheng thermal power plant, Baicheng chemical fertilizer plant, Baicheng cement plant and other major factories and mines. These industrial and mining enterprises have effectively promoted the economic construction of Baicheng county and its neighboring counties.

By tiereke coal mine pass, along the kapulang River, 2 km northbound, you can reach Baicheng County hot spring. There are many hot springs here, with an average water temperature of 50 ℃. The water contains a variety of minerals mainly sulfur, which has a good effect on the treatment of skin diseases. From March to May every year, people from all over southern Xinjiang come here to bathe.
