Mirror sea rainbow

The Aodang bridge on the west side is 2.5km long, which was completed and opened to traffic in 1974. It was one of the longest span reinforced concrete bridges in the world at that time. The friendship bridge on the east side is a sling bridge with a total length of 4.7km, which is wider and longer than the former. There is a 35 meter high channel opening protruding from the middle of Aodang bridge for Hong Kong and Macao passenger ships to pass under the bridge, while friendship bridge has two protruding channel openings, which are also like a half violin lying on the water, playing a beautiful movement under the touch of the sea.

The origin of the name

As "Jinghai" is one of the ancient place names of Macao, it also refers to the sea between Macao and Taipa Island. The two bridges are similar to Changhong crossing the sea. The combination of the two constitutes "Jinghai Changhong", one of the Eight Sights of Macao.
