Tata temple is located at the south end of Jiefang Road. It was built in 1897 by Tatar people. In 1919, a local German and foreign firm invested in the reconstruction, so it is also called the great temple of foreign firms. Tatar temple is the main place for Uygur, Tatar, Uzbek and other ethnic religious activities in the urban area, and it is also the city's open mosque.
Chinese and foreign visitors can visit the temple or watch Muslim worship at the back of the chapel after contacting in advance. According to Islamic rules, women are not allowed to enter the mosque. However, in Tatar temple, female tourists can also visit if they have obtained prior consent. The temple covers an area of more than 3000 square meters, of which the chapel accounts for about 800 square meters. Four chapels, full of carpets, can accommodate thousands of people.
