Jiufeng National Forest Park

Jiufeng National Forest Park is one of the four national forest parks in Wuhan. It is located in Hongshan District of Wuhan City, adjacent to Gedian Development Zone in the East, Wuhan East Lake High Tech Development Zone, China Optics Valley and Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area in the West. It is only 12 kilometers away from the city center, with convenient transportation. The park covers an area of 333 hectares, with beautiful natural landscape and rich wildlife resources. There are more than 60 kinds of birds and 580 kinds of plants, including more than 200 kinds of trees. It is the largest green resource treasure house in Wuhan. The main scenic spots of the park include pearl spring, immortal stone, sun stone, arhat belly, lion head, etc. The site of jiufenglu temple, once famous in Guiyuan temple, is also in the park.

Historical evolution

Wuchang forest farm, founded in 1910, is the source of the historical evolution of Hubei Academy of Forestry Sciences. Jiufeng branch of Wuchang forest farm was founded in the Republic of China and later renamed Jiufeng Forest Farm. Jiufeng National Forest Park, established in 1992, is an important scientific research base and popular science base of Hubei Academy of Forestry Sciences.

Wuhan Jiufeng Forest Zoo is built in Jiufeng National Forest Park, located in the eastern suburb of Wuhan City, 12 kilometers away from the city center, with convenient transportation. It covers an area of 800 mu, with more than 8000 square meters of wildlife cages. The forest coverage rate of the park is more than 85%. There are more than 10 sightseeing spots, including animal kindergarten, bear garden, Tiger Garden, Lion Garden, wolf garden, monkey garden, bird garden, deer garden, precious monkey hall, crocodile pool, etc. The "Dream Theater" and "bear and tiger Festival", which can accommodate nearly 5000 people at the same time, have left a deep impression on many tourists with their wonderful large-scale animal acrobatics. Since its opening in 2004, our park has been a comprehensive tourist attraction integrating animal breeding, breeding, viewing, scientific research, forest leisure, recreation, catering and accommodation. It has been rated as the designated reception unit of Wuhan Science and education tourism by the Municipal Tourism Bureau, with an average annual number of tourists reaching more than 600000.

Pearl Lake

Between Boyu peak and Shizi peak, there is a Arboretum and maple forest on the Bank of Pearl Lake. Along the lake, there are pearl spring, Sanyan bridge, ancient post road of Ming and Qing Dynasties and other historic sites.

Pearl Spring

Located 30 meters from the side of Sanyan bridge, it is clear all the year round. The water column from the spring looks like strings of pearls, so it is called pearl spring.

Shau Jidou

300 meters away from Zhenzhu spring, it is a deep and winding valley, which is named because its shape is similar to Shau Kei. On the hillsides on both sides of the valley, there are lots of Liquidambar formosana forests.

You can reach the top of Boyu peak by walking along the middle and small forest road from Shau Jidou. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can have a panoramic view of the scenery. Looking to the north, you can see the East Lake National Scenic Spot, with the vast water and sky water. The 5000 meter long dike, zhubeiting and Chutian Pavilion beside the lake. To the south, you can see Longquan, erlongxizhu and fishing sails in Liangzi Lake.

Changchun Valley

It is a long and narrow basin between Baogai peak and Boyu peak. In the valley, there are streams murmuring down according to the terrain. The forest around the valley is lush and the environment is quiet. Because of the mild climate here, it is named Changchun valley.

Pork Tripe Stuffed with Meat

It is located on the north slope of Boyu peak, about 500 meters away from pearl spring. There are two small peaks. Between the two peaks, there is a big stone in the shape of a garden, which is similar to the belly of arhat, so it gets its name. The trees around the belly of arhat are luxuriant, and the mountains are overlapping. Deep in the dense forest on both sides of the belly of arhat, there is a valley in the forest, and the sun is cool and the air is fresh.

Immortal stone

There is a protruding rock at the junction of Shizi peak and Huangbai peak. On the rock, there is a tree with luxuriant branches and tall and straight trunks. There is a concave groove in the middle of the rock that can accommodate a person to recline. At the bottom of the rock, there are two nests in the shape of holes, which looks like Guyin. It is said that the groove seal was left by an immortal after a rest, so it is called immortal stone.

Jiufengsheng Temple

According to the local chronicles, Zhu Yuanzhang, the sixth son of Ming Taizu, was granted the title of King Zhao of Chu. He was granted the land in Jiangxia (now Wuchang District, Hongshan District and Wuchang county). He built the palace in baoxielung spring of Wuchang, and looked at the majestic Jiufeng Mountain. He specially built jiufengsheng temple as a place for worshiping gods, summer vacation and sightseeing.

Three eye Bridge

Located in the southwest slope of Boyu peak, about 100 meters away from wu'e highway. The body of the bridge is made of gray kiln bricks, and there are three semi flashing bridge holes at the bottom of the bridge, so it is called Sanyan bridge. There are ancient post roads in Ming and Qing Dynasties on the bridge.

Jiufeng cliff

In the Ming Dynasty, monk wunian, the eminent monk of Jiufeng temple, opened a niche on the back cliff of Jiufeng temple, and engraved on it the poems and essays given by Zhu Yuanzhang to his master. The stone inscription is the imperial edict monk wunian. The niche is 160 cm high and 97 cm wide, with 30 lines of calligraphy and 930 characters. After Wu Nian died, his disciples opened a stone niche several meters to the left of the stone carving to commemorate it. It is a municipal cultural relic protection unit in Wuhan.

Lianghu Academy

In April 1890, Zhang Zhidong founded the two lakes Academy on the Bank of Dusi Lake (now Ziyang road and Ziyang lake are the only two of the nine lakes in Wuchang). The funds are mainly donated by tea merchants in Hunan and Hubei provinces, so it is called "Lianghu academy".
