Tanghu Park

Tanghu park is located in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Zhuankou), close to Checheng Avenue. It is the first municipal park in the development zone. The total area of the park is 555 mu, including 240 mu of water area.

Since 1998, Wuhan municipal government has planted more than 10000 local trees such as Osmanthus fragrans, Ginkgo biloba and camphor trees, and more than 70000 shrubs. In 2004, this cultural theme park integrating tourism and cultural activities was initially built and opened to the public free of charge. The park is a comprehensive park with high green ecological and cultural connotation, with a series of landscapes with Chu cultural characteristics and classical buildings with Chu Han style as the main body, a variety of local trees in Jingchu as the keynote, and a combination of landscape and tourism. The lake in the park is open, sparkling, water and sky are the same color. The natural scenery is very beautiful, just like a green pearl inlaid in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.

At present, the park has built Chu garden, high mountains and flowing water, Furong garden, promenade and many other fine gardens. There are mountains and water in the park, the terrain is undulating, the plant species are rich, the level is clear, and the natural scenery is very beautiful. Hibiscus mutabilis is the garden flower of Tanghu park. There are more than 4000 Hibiscus mutabilis plants scattered in the park. Furong park is located in the southeast of Tanghu Park, covering an area of about 13000 square meters, including 4000 square meters of water area and 9000 square meters of green space. Based on the connotation of Chu culture and "Furong" culture, according to the landscape design and needs, the garden is planted with white Furong, red Furong, yellow Furong, mandarin duck Furong, drunk Furong, seven star Furong and other varieties. Through the reasonable collocation with other plants, supplemented by pavilions, waterside pavilions, flower racks, hydrophilic platform, small scenery, etc., an ecological natural landscape freehand garden is constructed.

In 2013, the Development Zone carried out comprehensive transformation of Tanghu Park in two phases. The first phase of reconstruction was started in September 2013, mainly including colorful leaf forest scenic area, pine bamboo plum scenic area, greenway, landscape plank road, hydropower, sewage interception and lake dredging, with an investment of about 25 million yuan. The second phase will be launched in the second half of 2014, mainly including cherry garden, tulip garden, one first-class post station, two public toilets, east entrance, guide system, rest facilities and supporting greening construction, with an investment of about 15 million yuan. After the transformation, the service facilities of Tanghu park will be more perfect, the landscape will be more beautiful, and the environment will be more ecological and natural. It is a good place for Wuhan citizens to have leisure and entertainment.
