Zhang cangshui's former residence is located at 194 cangshui street, Haishu District, Ningbo City, southwest of Zhongshan Square. It's a courtyard. The brick on the lintel of the courtyard is engraved with the word "near sage king".

In the main hall and on both sides of the hall, there are wing rooms. A small courtyard in the west is Zhang cangshui's study when he was young. It is a five bay brick and wood building with single eaves and hard hills. There are porches in front and flowers and plants in the patio. The historical relics of Zhang cangshui will be displayed in the former residence.

The former residence faces south and consists of a courtyard house and a study. In front of the house, there is a brick carving platform door. The main house has three rooms, two floors, six rafters in depth, and a corridor in front of the ground floor. The wing room has three rooms and two floors, five purlins in depth and a single porch in front. The study is a single eaves, five bay, two slope top, with a patio in front. The beam frame is five, with four columns in front and back, and the middle column in the second. The beam frame of the whole building is simple to carve, standard and neat to make.

Zhang's former residence was built by his father, Zhang Guizhang, and has been inhabited and built by his descendants ever since. From the existing buildings, some of the residential buildings were built later, while the study buildings were built earlier. It was renovated in 1999 and is now in good condition.

About Zhang cangshui

Zhang Huangyan (1620-1664), Han nationality, was a scholar, writer and national hero in the Southern Ming Dynasty. He was born in Yinxian County, Zhejiang Province. Chongzhen is a famous scholar. He was the Minister of the Ministry of war in the Southern Ming Dynasty. He is upright, civil and military, and is determined to serve the country and the people. Most of his poems were written in his fighting career. His poems are simple, solemn and stirring, which fully show the writer's patriotic enthusiasm for the country and the people. However, most of the poems and works have been lost, including Zhang cangshui Ji, Bingcha Ji, Qiling Cao, Beizheng Lu, etc.

Historical experience

In December 1982, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Haishu District.

In 1998, Zhongshan Square was built in the area. With the efforts of all parties, the former residence was restored as before. In April 2005, Zhang cangshui's former residence was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
