Zushi Shihfang

Zushi square is located in the middle of South Street (Yanhui Street) of Xingcheng ancient city in Liaoning Province. There are two original blocks, 85 meters apart. In the south is the "loyalty, courage and wisdom" workshop of the Ming Dynasty's forward commander Zu dashou, which was built in the fourth year of Chongzhen (1631). It was demolished in 1969 and has been restored. In the north is the "dengtan Junlie" square, built in 1638. Both of them are of four columns, three rooms and five floors, with single eaves on the top of the veranda. The columns are high, the buildings are small, and the carvings are delicate.

Architectural features

The stone square is magnificent with exquisite carving technology and delicate and lifelike techniques. Although it has been eroded by the wind and rain for 360 years, it is still intact, which provides valuable material for the study of the stone carving art created by the working people since the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the history of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Two stone squares, one is zudashou stone square, the other is zudale stone square. All the grandparents are from Xingcheng, and their grandfathers are cousins of dalie. There are two horizontal plaques on the front of zudashou stone square. On the top is "loyalty, courage and wisdom"; on the bottom is "four generations of Yuanrong Shaofu"; on the back is horizontal: "the power of clearing up". At the bottom of the top of the hall, there is a plaque engraved with the word "Wang Yin". Zudale stone square front horizontal plaque: dengtan Junlie; couplet: huanjiu Xingge country, according to the importance of Gancheng, Silun Xichong Dynasty Long Ming Ding praise; back horizontal plaque: Yuanxun Chuxi; couplet: Songhe as new, qingshanpei in the four seas, a wide range of Heben, eternal reputation in the future. All the inscriptions are in Yangwen. Couplets and plaques are mostly praises. However, both from the perspective of calligraphy and archaeology, they are of great value.

The two archways are made of rock and stone. They are all made of imitation wood structure. They have four columns, three rooms and five floors. They have single eaves and verandah roofs. The columns are high and small, which makes them appear to be elevated and towering. Two pairs of stone lions, big and small, squat down on the north and south sides of the lower end of the central column and the side column. Their shapes are vivid and lifelike. They bow their backs, hold their heads up and look at each other. According to the local custom, every night on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, men, women, old and young go out to gather around the stone lion, in order to touch which part of the lion, and the disease in that part of their body will be cured. It is said that doing so can eliminate disasters, avoid evil and cure diseases. People regard these stone lions as the symbols of auspiciousness and auspiciousness.

These two stone carvings are like a piece of solidified music, whose beautiful melody always reverberates inside and outside the ancient city, giving people the enjoyment of beauty.
