Former residence of Yu qiaqing in Ningbo

brief introduction

The whole building was built in 1916 and completed in 1929. The first three styles of architecture are Chinese traditional style, and the second two styles are western style. In 2001, Yushi old house complex in Longshan was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Architectural pattern

Yu's old house is 22 degrees south by East. The existing main building has five entrances, 59 meters wide and 94 meters deep. It covers an area of 5546 square meters and a building area of 5670 square meters. The first three entrances were built in 1916 and completed in 1919. The project was started in 1926 and completed in 1929. The front and back parts of the building are separated by a channel 59 meters long and 3.6 meters wide, forming two relatively independent parts. It is a successful example of the combination of Chinese and western in modern architecture.

It is 44.79m wide and 10.92m deep. There are three rooms in the main hall, and the three character plaque of "tianxutang" is hung in the Central Plains, which takes the meaning of tianlunle narration. On Liang Fang, Niutui, queti and menbi, there are sculptures with the theme of character story, phoenix play peony, deer holding Ganoderma lucidum, plum orchid bamboo chrysanthemum, lion rolling ball, etc., rendering the rich national characteristics of auspiciousness and prosperity. The internal structure of the third entrance building is of beam lifting and bucket type. After the later transformation, the facade has a strong Western style.

The second entrance is a western style building with high walls and deep courtyard. It is composed of the main building and the back building. The width of the two entrance courtyards is nine rooms and two corridors, which are divided into three units of two rooms and one hall. The front yard with a depth of 14 meters is sealed with a wall with a height of 6 meters. The main building has an overhead ridge with a height of 0.6m, a width of 55.65m and a depth of 15.52m. Meiyuan stone of high quality is selected as the stone components of the building, such as platform base, steps, wainscot, door frame and column. Indoor mosaic of fish scale ornamentation, the four corners of the olive branch pattern, exquisite materials, fine workmanship, grid doors and windows, stained glass, the whole body is magnificent, is the essence of the rear area building. The volume of the back building is smaller than that of the main building, the structure is simple, and there are corridors connecting with the main building.

In addition, on the right side of Tianxu hall is a small garden. There is a row of exquisite Spanish style houses with a pool in front. It is a resting place for the reception of Dagui. Today, only the remnant garden is left.

Cultural security unit

The construction technology of Yu's old house reflects the perfect combination of Chinese traditional architectural culture and foreign architectural culture, which has high historical, artistic and scientific value. In 1997, Cixi Municipal People's government announced Yu qiaqing's former residence as the fourth batch of cultural relics protection units. In 2001, the State Council announced the Yushi old house complex in Longshan as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In 2004, Cixi Municipal People's government allocated 5 million yuan for the comprehensive maintenance of the old Yu's house in Longshan to restore its original historical appearance. After that, a cultural security office will be set up to display relevant historical sites and open them to the public.
