Shendu port

Located in the south of Anhui Province, Shendu port is the largest Waterway Port in the south of Huangshan City and the water gateway of Anhui section of Xin'anjiang river. The 25 kilometers from Shendu town to JIEKOU town is a model waterway of national civilization.

Brief introduction to the port

Shendu port is located at the junction of Changyuan River and Xin'anjiang River in Shendu Town, Shexian county. At present, it is the largest inland water transport port on land in Huangshan City, the water transport center of Anhui section of Xin'anjiang River, and the terminal for passenger and freight transportation. Shanghang 55 km to Tunxi, down 90 km to Xin'anjiang dam.

History of port area

Shendu port is one of the ancient ports in Shexian county. It was opened at the beginning of the 20th century. Before the Xin'anjiang dam was built, the water transportation of Shendu port was very busy. Ships from Tunxi to Hangzhou were berthed here. In 1958, the Xin'anjiang dam was built and impounded, and the Huihang waterway was interrupted. The old wharf was flooded, and the freight volume of Shendu port dropped sharply. In 1960, after the impoundment of Xin'anjiang reservoir, the Huihang waterway was reopened, and the freight volume of Shendu port began to rise steadily again. Due to the completion of the Xin'anjiang dam, the Huihang waterway has been greatly shortened and can only lead to the nearby Qiandaohu town in Zhejiang Province. In 2005, Xin'anjiang waterway (from Shendu to JIEKOU) was rated as "civilized waterway" by the Ministry of communications of the people's Republic of China. In 1965, the Provincial Department of transportation allocated 15000 yuan to build two stone step piers, 60 meters in total length and 70 meters in width. At the same time, it invested 30000 yuan to build a passenger terminal. It is 20 meters long and 7 meters wide. There are 2 waiting rooms with a construction area of 300 square meters. In 1984, the Ministry of communications invested 300000 yuan in the expansion of Shendu port to build a passenger and cargo terminal with a total length of 175 meters, 452 square meters of station buildings and 152 square meters of waiting rooms.

The natural coastline of Shendu port is 1.5 km long, with water area of 65000 square meters and land area of 40000 square meters. There are 6 wharves, with a total extension of 279.5 meters, 25 berths, a maximum berthing capacity of 300 tons, a warehouse of 260 square meters, and a simple stacking yard of 70 square meters. It has two mechanical transportation devices. In 2000, it invested 5 million yuan to build the Shendu tourist terminal and moved the passenger terminal to the North Bank of Xin'an River. The old terminal only has the function of freight transportation. The port has 21 large cruise ships and 27 speedboats. There are more than 30 small hang up passenger ships and 12 large cargo ships. In recent years, Shendu port has built a series of infrastructure, such as terminal building, waiting room, tourist reception center, tourist toilet, dock garden, dock parking lot, port water transportation command center, etc. In cooperation with the County Tourism Bureau, the annual capacity of receiving tourists has been steadily improved. In 2008, the number of passengers received exceeded 500000.

Management unit

Shexian local maritime department and Shexian port and shipping management office are one organization and two brands, which are responsible for the supervision of water traffic safety in the navigable waters of the whole county, the administration of ports and waterways, the administration of water transport market, the statutory inspection of ships, the training of crew, the inspection of goods transported and the law enforcement on water.

Planning and construction

From 2012 to 2015, it is planned to build the comprehensive service area of Shendu wharf and expand the Shendu wharf along Xin'anjiang Avenue (Damao section on the North Bank of Xin'anjiang). The berths of Shendu port will be greatly increased, the passenger reception capacity will be further strengthened, and it will become a tourist reception center on Xin'an River.
