Time: 2022-01-29 11:52:15 Author: ChinaWiki.net

Dongchong is located at the southernmost tip of Dapeng Peninsula in the southeast of Shenzhen. It has beautiful coastal scenery and has not been developed on a large scale, especially in Dongchong village, where there are large fish ponds. Dongchong administrative village is composed of six natural villages, and the order from west to East is dashili, kapok tree, Shangwei, Dawei, Shagang and Chongjie. There are less than 500 local people in the village. Dongchong village is the only one in Shenzhen that doesn't have access to the provincial highway. The villagers live by farming and fishing.

Tung Chung

Tung Chung, formerly known as Tung Chung estuary, is located in the center of the north coast of Lantau Island, facing the sea on one side and surrounded by mountains on three sides. Lantau Island has a long history. In the Ming Dynasty, Tung Chung was already a large settlement on Lantau Island and was patrolled by flood troops. Later, in the first year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1662), the Qing government implemented the boundary policy, limiting the residents of the five coastal provinces to 50 Li inland, which made the local residents suffer from exile. In the eighth year of Kangxi (1669), the Qing government approved the restoration of the boundary, and the residents of the area also returned one after another, with a growing population. There are also a lot of Hakka residents from Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian.

Introduction to Tung Chung

Tung Chung, Hong Kong, is located in the north of Lantau Island, not far from Baolian temple. The last two emperors of the Song Dynasty took refuge here. It is said that the descendants of some servants still live here. There is a Tung Chung fort built in 1873. It is a castle used to block opium trade and pirate invasion. There were more than 400 garrisons and five warships cruising there. There are still six Qing Dynasty ancient cannons. Walk along the small Sutra on the right side of the fort, and you can walk about 20 minutes to the Hou Wang Temple. The temple was built in 1765 to honor the Hou Wang of Ning Xiang Yang who died with the monarch of the late Song Dynasty. To the north of Tung Chung, Chek Lap Kok is the location of the new airport, with a clear view from the Tung Chung fort.

History and culture

Dongyong, originally known as dongxiyong, was first seen in ancient books such as yuedaji in Wanli of Ming Dynasty, because there was a river flowing into the sea on both sides. Daoguang of Qing Dynasty marked "dongxiyong" as "dongyongkou" and "xiyongkou" respectively in his book "Guangdong coastal defense collection". Finally, the towns in the East developed better, and people collectively called the whole area "Dongyong". Since the Song Dynasty, Tung Chung has been inhabited, fishing and farming for a living. According to local chronicles, in the 22nd year of Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, the governors Jiang Youqi and Ruan Yuan successively approved the construction of eight flood control houses at dongyongkou, Lantau Island, and two fort at the foot of Shishi mountain. Dongyongkou is today's Dongyong. Today's Ma Wan Chung is the old market in Tung Chung.

In the early Qing Dynasty, in 1729, the fort was built on the mountain of fenliujiao in the west of the island. In the years of Qian and Jia, the flood control station was set up at the entrance of Tung Chung. In the 22nd year of Jiaqing (1819), the flood control room was set up at the entrance of Tung Chung, and the Shishi fort, the military defense station and the gunpowder Bureau were built at the coast of Tung Chung. In 1831, at the foot of the Shangling mountain in Tung Chung, Tung Chung walled city was built. It was garrisoned by guards and soldiers to take charge of the flood control and battery in Western Hong Kong. At that time, there were yuanjiatuan, Meiwo, Shibi, Tangfu, Shuikou, shimenjia, shiliukeng, shaluowan, shitoupu, er'ao, yougulang, DAHAO, Baimang, Henglong and lingpituan villages in Dongyong. It was abandoned in 1898. Today, there are 15 villages under the jurisdiction of the Tung Chung Rural Committee. Most of them are Hakkas, but there are also many people in Canton. Although there are still many historical sites in Tung Chung, there have been many changes. With the completion of the Tsing Ma Bridge and the airport, Tung Chung has become a key development area for the government. It is expected that there will be more rapid changes here.

Development status

The new town is developed on the reclaimed land to the northeast of the original Tung Chung market and the land formed by the artificial diversion of the lower reaches of the Tung Chung River.

Tung Chung and Tai ho are planned to be developed into new towns with a capacity of 250000 people in four phases. The first phase of development started in 1994 and was completed in January 1997. The first phase includes Fudong estate (dongma tower, Dongpu tower and Dongsheng tower) and Yudong Garden (Xiangdong Pavilion, Hedong Pavilion, Xidong Pavilion, Qidong Pavilion and Xindong Pavilion), providing residential accommodation for residents working in the new airport. There is also a commercial development project in the District, which is a shopping center, hotel and office building.

The second phase is the development of Tung Chung East reclamation, which has been completed since 2001, mainly for private buildings.

The existing private housing estates include:

Yingwan Garden

Dongdi Bay

Seaview Crescent

Blue sky coast

Water and blue sky

Blue sky

La Rossa

The third and fourth phases are under planning. Including Yidong (1) and (2) estates.

In 2010, the housing department will build four 47 to 49 storey public housing units on the waterfront site of area 56 in Tung Chung. It is estimated that about 13000 people will be able to live in these units in 2015.

Traffic information

1. MTR Tung Chung Line to Tung Chung station. 2. Take the airport bus to the airport and then transfer to S1 to all stations along the way to Tung Chung city center.

Cultural and recreational activities

As of October 2006, the existing recreational facilities in Tung Chung are as follows:

Basketball Court

Football Field

Cycling track tennis court

Children's play facilities

Lack of pool venues

According to the Hong Kong Planning Standards and guidelines, the population of Tung Chung residents should reach 287000 before a swimming pool can be built. At present, with a population of about 100000, the permanent swimming pool will be located next to Tung Chung cable station.

Lack of other ball venues

There is only one temporary Library in Yidong estate, which is not large enough to meet the needs of the population. The permanent library is under construction in the north of Tung Chung, between Ling Liang Tang Yiwen middle school and Tung Hui City.

Public health care

There are a number of government or private clinics in Tung Chung, with an average of one to two doctors per day. The community is short of a general hospital and a 24-hour emergency room. The government has chosen to build a hospital behind Yidong estate.

At present, if residents of Tung Chung want to go to the hospital for medical treatment, they usually take a bus to the Princess Margaret Hospital or Kwai Chung Hospital from Kwai Chung to Lai Chi Kok.
