historical origin

The river under Hengsheng bridge was originally named qiandengpu, which was renamed shangshupu in memory of Xia Yuanji, the Minister of household affairs of Ming Dynasty. In the song and Yuan Dynasties, there were serious floods in the south of the Yangtze River. In the first year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, Xia Yuanji, the Minister of the Ministry of household affairs, was ordered to carry Yuan Fu, the Prime Minister of Taichang, to dredge Wusong River and expand qiandengpu by the way. In memory of Xia Yuanji, the people changed qiandengpu to shangshupu. Shangshu Pubei Wusong River, south of Dianshan Lake, is the water transportation thoroughfare.
