Three steps and two bridges
Luzhi is a famous bridge capital in the water town. It was once said that there were 72 and a half bridges. "Three steps and two bridges" means to cross two bridges in three steps. Luzhi ancient town has many waterways. At the intersection of the two rivers, there are often two bridges connected at right angles, commonly known as double bridges.
Sanyuan bridge and Wan'an bridge, which span the Tang River from east to west, are the representatives of the three step two bridge. The former was built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, while the latter was built before the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty.
There are four other groups of double bridges in the ancient town: Nanchang bridge and Yongfu bridge to the south of Wansheng mihang, Zhongmei bridge and intersection bridge in dongshitou, Huanyu bridge and Fengqiao in the north of Zhongshi, and huanbi bridge and Jinxiang bridge in the middle of Zhongshi.
