Sandun Zhen is located in the south of Nanhui County. The town is adjacent to Wanxiang town in the East, Datun town in the south, Xuanqiao town in the west, Huinan town and Huanglu town in the north. The town people's government is located in Sandun, which has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee and 17 villagers' committees. It covers an area of 20.85 square kilometers and has a population of 29000. It produces rice, melons and fruits.

Sandun township was set up in 1909, which was abolished in 1947. In 1959, Sandun people's commune was set up by jiedatuan and Huinan people's commune, which was changed to township in 1984. In 1995, the township was withdrawn to build a town.
