origin

There are two theories about the urn wall. In the early prosperous Lukang, because of its developed commerce and frequent contacts with the mainland, ships used xiamu, brick and stone and Shaoxing wine urn to ballast their cabins whenever they went back for stability. Second, if there were newborns in ancient families, they would bury Shaoxing wine underground. If they were sons, when they grew up, they would treat Shaoxing banquet guests as "number one scholar red"; if they were daughters, they would be called "daughter red", and they would take it as one of the dowry items.

In the early period of architecture, the empty Shaoxing wine urn was used as wall decoration, giving full play to the characteristics of materials, beautiful and interesting. Another theory is that there were enough wine jars in Lugang to be piled up into walls, which reflects the richness of the residents here at that time.

Lukang

Lukang town (Tailuo: lo̍k-k á ng-t ì n) is located on the North Bank of Lukang River Estuary in the northwest of Changhua plain, Changhua County, Taiwan. The altitude of the whole town is below 10 meters above sea level. It is adjacent to Taiwan Strait in the west, Xiushui Township in the East, Fuxing Township in the south, Xianxi Township and Hemei town in the north, yangzicuo River tributary and anton'er drainage in the East. Lukang was the most important foreign trade port in Holland and Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty. In the past, it flourished due to the development of Commerce. Due to its early development history, there are many historic sites in the urban area, forming important tourism resources. In terms of local specialties, shrimps and monkeys, local traditional snacks, traditional pastries and traditional crafts are most well known.

Because of the silting up of the railway and the port, the development of Lukang has been stagnated. Therefore, many customs, cultures, cultural relics and historic sites have been preserved. The local people in Lukang are also proud of this and try their best to keep the Antiquities and customs and live in harmony with them. Therefore, the frequency and scale of temple fair activities are the most important in Taiwan.

Since 1978, "Dragon Boat Festival in Lukang" has been held every year. The dragon boat race is the climax of the activity. The dragon boat race is held in Fulu Riverside Park (Fulu River). During the old three stations period, those who can't visit the scene in person every year can broadcast the event live and introduce the relevant activities and Lugang culture through wireless TV station. It was broadcast by China Television in 2015, by much in 2016, and by 2017 It has been held continuously for 40 years.

Since 2013, the Taiwan International Competitive Dragon Boat Championship has been held every year from July to mid autumn festival. Until 2017, it has been held for five consecutive years, and 2016 is the first time to hold the Taiwan International Competitive Dragon Boat Championship at night.
